Long-serving Volkswagen engine engineer who pleaded guilty in 2016 and was sentenced in August 2017 to 40 months in US federal prison for conspiracy to defraud regulators and customers by helping to design and conceal the diesel-emissions defeat device. He was the first VW insider sentenced in the Dieselgate criminal track.
