CWEs ranked by how often they appear in real CVEs. The rationale describes how this control reduces exploitability of each weakness class.
| CWE | Name | CVEs | Why this control addresses it |
|---|---|---|---|
CWE-755 | Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions | 600+ | Procedures ensure proper handling of exceptional conditions to support effective incident response. |
CWE-703 | Improper Check or Handling of Exceptional Conditions | 100+ | Policy defines checks and handling for exceptional conditions arising from security incidents. |
CWE-778 | Insufficient Logging | 28 | Incident response policy mandates logging and monitoring requirements to detect and record security events. |
CWE-391 | Unchecked Error Condition | 25 | Policy enforces checking and handling of error conditions as part of incident response processes. |
CWE-390 | Detection of Error Condition Without Action | 20 | Procedures require detection of error/incident conditions followed by defined response actions. |
CWE-392 | Missing Report of Error Condition | 12 | Requires reporting and escalation of error conditions and incidents per documented procedures. |
