Deeper analysis

The vulnerability is a stored cross-site scripting flaw (CWE-79) in JetBrains YouTrack versions prior to 2024.3.47707. It arises when an attacker supplies a malicious vendor URL inside an App manifest, allowing persistent script execution within the application.

An authenticated user with low privileges can exploit the issue over the network by crafting a malicious manifest. Successful exploitation requires user interaction such as viewing the affected App, after which the attacker can read limited data or perform limited actions on behalf of the victim while the scope remains unchanged.

JetBrains has addressed the issue in the 2024.3.47707 release, as noted in their published list of resolved security issues. The current and peak EPSS score of 0.2166 indicates moderate and stable exploitation interest since disclosure.
