Deeper analysis
WRC-X3000GS, WRC-X3000GSA, and WRC-X3000GSN routers contain an OS command injection vulnerability (CWE-78) in the Connection Diagnostics page. The flaw stems from improper neutralization of special elements in user-supplied input, allowing command execution when the page processes a request.
A remote authenticated attacker can exploit the issue by sending a crafted HTTP request to the affected device. Successful exploitation grants the ability to run arbitrary operating system commands with the privileges of the web interface, resulting in full control over the device configuration, data, and network functions.
The published references point to an Elecom security advisory and a corresponding JVN entry that address the affected router firmware. The EPSS score has remained flat at 0.0107 with no material increase since disclosure.
