Vulnerability Data

Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 1.14.6 and 1.15.4, the @backstage/plugin-techdocs-node package is affected by bypass of mkdocs configuration sanitizer in techdocs backend. Users with the ability to commit changes to a repository that uses…

more

TechDocs can circumvent the MkDocs configuration file sanitizer introduced in response to CVE-2026-25153 and execute arbitrary code on the TechDocs backend host during documentation generation. This issue is fixed in versions 1.14.6 and 1.15.4.

Mitigating Controls

Mitigating Controls (NIST 800-53 r5) AI

Secure baseline settings can enforce absolute, organization-controlled paths for critical resources.

Least-functionality configuration can prohibit unapproved directories or executables from being reachable via search paths.

Engineering principles such as trusted paths, complete mediation, and least privilege directly require hard-coded or validated search paths instead of external ones.

Preventing execution of unauthorized code directly blocks the malicious binaries that an untrusted search path would load.

DISA STIG baselines are authored against specific weaknesses. Where this CVE cites a broad weakness class, the mapping is not asserted at that abstraction (owner ruling, 2026-09-25: grade only at Base and below), so no rule is shown here rather than a rule shown against the wrong grain.

  • No fine-grained STIG row for CWE-436, a class-level weakness, and none of its children carries one either.
