Raw vector
CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:HCVSS and EPSS are reproduced from their sources (NVD, FIRST EPSS). Risk Priority is our own derived reading, not an NVD score.
Summary
CVE-2026-108980 is a high-severity Path Traversal: '../filedir' (CWE-24) vulnerability. Its CVSS base score is 8.8 (High).
Operationally, exploitation aligns with the MITRE ATT&CK technique Protocol or Service Impersonation (T1001.003); ranked in the top 36% of CVEs by exploit likelihood; it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog.
The strongest mitigations our analysis identified map to AC-3 (Access Enforcement) and SI-10 (Information Input Validation) — see the control section below for these in your framework.

Vulnerability Data
Blinko through 1.8.8 allows directory traversal, overwriting startup files as root, via installPlugin. It builds the plugin install path from an unsanitized name in server/routerTrpc/plugin.ts, and the plugin.installPlugin tRPC procedure is open to any authenticated user. Thus, a name containing…

../ sequences writes the downloaded plugin files outside the plugins directory. Because the official Docker image runs as root, an authenticated attacker overwrites a root-owned startup file and achieves remote code execution as root. Self-registration for an account may be possible.

Enforced access authorizations can limit the damage even when path traversal succeeds.
Input validation directly neutralizes '../' sequences in externally-supplied pathnames before they are resolved.

Secure SDLC practices directly require input validation and path sanitization that prevent ../ traversal.

Secure SDLC mandates input validation and path canonicalization that directly block ../ traversal.
Application security requirements explicitly call for controls against path traversal in file-handling functions.
A.8.27 mandates security-by-design principles (least privilege, default-deny, distrust-external-input, fail-securely, hardening, design review against attack patterns) that reach a minority slice of path-traversal defects when applied to input handling and directory restrictions; most instances remain possible if the specific neutralization is omitted.
Secure coding standards require neutralizing ../ sequences and canonicalizing paths before file operations.
Security testing in development catches path-traversal flaws before release.
