CVE-2023-22432 is an open redirect vulnerability affecting web2py versions prior to 2.23.1. The flaw, tracked under CWE-601, allows an attacker to supply a crafted URL that causes the application to redirect users to an arbitrary external site. It carries a CVSS 3.1 base score of 6.1 with a network attack vector, low complexity, no required privileges, and required user interaction.
An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit the issue by sending a malicious link to a web2py user. If the recipient follows the link, the browser is redirected to an attacker-controlled destination, enabling phishing or other social-engineering attacks that may result in limited confidentiality and integrity impacts.
Public references, including the JVN advisory JVN78253670 and the web2py project site, indicate that upgrading to version 2.23.1 or later resolves the redirect flaw. The project download page provides the patched release.
