Vulnerability Data

The C:\Windows\Temp\Agent.Package.Availability\Agent.Package.Availability.exe file is automatically launched as SYSTEM when the system reboots. Since the C:\Windows\Temp\Agent.Package.Availability folder inherits permissions from C:\Windows\Temp and Agent.Package.Availability.exe is susceptible to DLL hijacking, standard users can write a malicious DLL to it and elevate their privileges.

prevents

Secure system architecture principles include proper file-system permission models that mitigate insecure temp-file creation.

prevents

Secure coding standards directly require safe temporary-file creation with restrictive permissions.

mitigates

Information access restriction policies can limit who may read or list files in shared temporary directories.

mitigates

Configuration management can enforce secure default permissions on temporary directories.
