Summary

CVE-2024-3962 is a critical-severity Unrestricted Upload of File with Dangerous Type (CWE-434) vulnerability in Themeisle Product Addons \& Fields For Woocommerce. Its CVSS base score is 9.8 (Critical).

Operationally, ranked in the top 6.6% of CVEs by exploit likelihood; it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog.

Deeper analysis

The Product Addons & Fields for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads because the ppom_upload_file function lacks file type validation in all versions through 32.0.18. The flaw is tracked as CWE-434 and carries a CVSS 3.1 score of 9.8. Exploitation also requires the separate PPOM Pro plugin to be present along with a WooCommerce product configured to include a file-upload field that supplies the correct nonce.

Unauthenticated attackers can upload arbitrary files to the server, which may enable remote code execution. The attack can be carried out over the network without authentication or user interaction once the required nonce is obtained from the product page.

The referenced WordPress plugin changeset shows that the maintainers addressed the missing validation in a subsequent release. Site operators are therefore advised to update the Product Addons & Fields for WooCommerce plugin to a version newer than 32.0.18 and to verify that PPOM Pro is likewise current.

The EPSS score for this CVE has remained at 0.1050 since disclosure with no material increase observed.
