Summary

CVE-2026-105630 is a high-severity Cross-site Scripting (CWE-79) vulnerability. Its CVSS base score is 8.7 (High).

Operationally, exploitation aligns with the MITRE ATT&CK technique Command and Scripting Interpreter (T1059); ranked at the 11th percentile by exploit likelihood (below the median); it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog.

The strongest mitigations our analysis identified map to CM-7 (Least Functionality) and SA-11 (Developer Testing and Evaluation) — see the control section below for these in your framework.

Vulnerability Data

Plane is an open-source project management tool. Prior to 1.4.0, an authenticated low-privilege workspace member, including a Guest, can upload an image/svg+xml file as a generic or issue attachment. The file retains the attacker-controlled Content-Type, and the asset-download endpoint creates…

a presigned URL with Content-Disposition: inline. In the default self-hosted MinIO deployment, the asset URL is served from the same origin as the Plane application, allowing embedded SVG JavaScript to execute in the application's security context. A victim, including a workspace administrator, who opens the link can have the session compromised through stored XSS, leading to account takeover. This issue is fixed in 1.4.0.

Mitigating Controls (NIST 800-53 r5) AI

Least functionality restricts the file types and automatic processing capabilities the system will accept.

Developer testing and evaluation can discover missing or incorrect input neutralization through targeted web-application tests.

XSS is consistent with a weak SDLC but is not diagnostic OF it: the SDLC is a broad outcome and many specific controls sit between it and this defect

Engineering principles such as complete mediation and least privilege require the use of the canonical $_FILES array rather than attacker-writable globals.

SC-18 Mobile Code partial match

Mobile-code controls define, authorize, and block unacceptable uploaded code before automatic processing occurs.

Input validation directly enforces neutralization of untrusted data before it reaches web output generation.

Secure SDLC practices directly target introduction of XSS via coding standards/testing (mostly), yet the single broad outcome leaves many specific neutralization vectors unaddressed (partial).
