Summary

CVE-2026-15803 is a high-severity Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference (CWE-611) vulnerability in Eclipse RDF4J (inferred from references). Its CVSS base score is 8.7 (High).

Operationally, exploitation aligns with the MITRE ATT&CK technique Data from Local System (T1005); ranked at the 40th percentile by exploit likelihood (below the median); it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog.

The strongest mitigations our analysis identified map to CM-6 (Configuration Settings) and SA-11 (Developer Testing and Evaluation) — see the control section below for these in your framework.

Vulnerability Data

In Eclipse RDF4J, several XML parser entry points do not fully restrict XML External Entity (XXE) processing when parsing untrusted XML-based RDF data or query results, permitting DOCTYPE declarations, external entity references, and external DTD loading. This is due to…

an incomplete fix for CVE-2018-1000644: the earlier fix did not cover all parser entry points. The issue is resolved in RDF4J 5.3.2, which rejects or disables DOCTYPE declarations, external entities, and external DTD loading by default.

finds

Security testing in development catches XXE via static analysis and dynamic XML fuzzing.

prevents

Secure coding standards require disabling DTDs and external entities in XML processing.

finds

REACH: a disclosure-reach control sees only instances that carry a vendor-published flaw, so `finds` is at most `partial` (rule, 2026-10-17).
