Summary
CVE-2026-103601 is a high-severity Improper Validation of Integrity Check Value (CWE-354) vulnerability. Its CVSS base score is 8.2 (High).
Operationally, exploitation aligns with the MITRE ATT&CK technique OS Credential Dumping (T1003); ranked at the 20th percentile by exploit likelihood (below the median); it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog.
The strongest mitigations our analysis identified map to SC-13 (Cryptographic Protection) and SC-8 (Transmission Confidentiality and Integrity) — see the control section below for these in your framework.

Vulnerability Data
Release of unverified plaintext in the CCM (CcmBlockCipher) and DSTU 7624 CCM (KCcmBlockCipher) AEAD modes in Legion of the Bouncy Castle Inc. bc-csharp before 2.7.0 allows a remote attacker to obtain decryptions of ciphertexts of their choosing via forged messages…
more
sent to an application that lets the output buffer of a failed decryption be observed, for example through buffer reuse or logging, because decryption wrote the recovered plaintext into the caller-supplied output buffer before checking the authentication tag and left it there when the check failed. Only decryption into a caller-supplied buffer is affected; methods that return a newly allocated array are not.

Mitigating Controls (NIST 800-53 r5) AI
Mandates cryptographic mechanisms that include integrity protection, preventing improper checksum validation.
Requires protection of transmitted information integrity, directly mandating correct validation of integrity checks.
Requires integrity verification tools that detect unauthorized changes when checksum validation is missing or flawed.
Mitigating Controls (NIST CSF 2.0) AI
Derived directly from the weakness types (CWEs) cited in the NVD entry via our AI-authored CWE→CSF cross-walk (authority under review) — links open the control.
Mandates pre-acquisition integrity assessment, addressing only the initial portion of the weakness lifecycle.
Requires cryptographic hashes and signatures that directly enforce integrity-check validation for data at rest.
Requires cryptographic hashes and signatures that directly enforce integrity-check validation for data in transit.
Requires verification of backup integrity, covering validation only within recovery scenarios.
Mitigating Controls (ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Annex A) AI
Derived directly from the weakness types (CWEs) cited in the NVD entry via our AI-authored CWE→ISO cross-walk (authority under review) — links open the control.
