Vulnerability Data

Coder allows organizations to provision remote development environments via Terraform. Starting in version 2.30.0 and prior to versions 2.32.7, 2.33.8, and 2.34.2, the AI Bridge Proxy (`aibridgeproxyd`) created a goproxy server whose default transport set `InsecureSkipVerify: true` and only assigned…

a secure transport when an upstream proxy was configured. In the default configuration (no upstream proxy), outbound HTTPS to the Coder access URL accepted any TLS certificate. Practical exploitation requires an on-path (man-in-the-middle) position between the AI Bridge Proxy and the Coder server. Deployments where they are co-located over loopback are effectively unaffected. The fix in versions 2.32.7, 2.33.8, and 2.34.2 applies the secure transport (TLS 1.2 or higher using system root CAs) unconditionally. As a workaround, ensure the Coder access URL uses a trusted certificate and secure the network path between the AI Bridge Proxy and the Coder server (for example, loopback or mTLS).

MITRE ATT&CK Enterprise TechniquesAI

T1557 Adversary-in-the-Middle Credential Access
Adversaries may attempt to position themselves between two or more networked devices using an adversary-in-the-middle (AiTM) technique to support follow-on behaviors such as [Network Sniffing](https://attack.
T1557.004 Evil Twin Credential Access
Adversaries may host seemingly genuine Wi-Fi access points to deceive users into connecting to malicious networks as a way of supporting follow-on behaviors such as [Network Sniffing](https://attack.
Why these techniques?

The vulnerability disables TLS certificate validation (InsecureSkipVerify: true) for outbound HTTPS connections from the AI Bridge Proxy to the Coder server, enabling an on-path attacker to perform a man-in-the-middle attack. This directly maps to Adversary-in-the-Middle (T1557) and specifically Evil Twin (T1557.004) when the attacker impersonates the legitimate Coder server over the network path.

Mitigating Controls (NIST 800-53 r5) AI

prevent

Enforces cryptographic integrity and confidentiality on all network transmissions, directly blocking the MITM that exploits the InsecureSkipVerify bypass.

prevent

Boundary-protection mechanisms can isolate the AI Bridge Proxy from external attackers, limiting the attack surface to the vulnerable TLS path.

detect

Software-integrity verification can detect unauthorized or tampered outbound connections that result from the insecure TLS configuration.
