CVE-2022-21284 affects the Cluster: General component of Oracle MySQL Cluster in versions 7.4.34 and earlier, 7.5.24 and earlier, 7.6.20 and earlier, and 8.0.27 and earlier. The flaw is rated at CVSS 6.3 with the vector AV:A/AC:H/PR:H/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H and permits a successful attacker to fully compromise the cluster.
Exploitation requires an attacker with high privileges who already has access to the physical network segment connected to the cluster hardware. The attack is further complicated by the need for human interaction from another user, after which the attacker can achieve full takeover of the MySQL Cluster instance.
Oracle’s January 2022 Critical Patch Update addresses the issue for supported releases; NetApp and Zero Day Initiative advisories reference the same Oracle fix and recommend applying the relevant MySQL Cluster patches.
