CVE-2022-21314 affects the Cluster: General component of Oracle MySQL Cluster in versions 7.4.34 and earlier, 7.5.24 and earlier, 7.6.20 and earlier, and 8.0.27 and earlier. It is a difficult-to-exploit flaw that permits compromise of the cluster when an attacker already possesses high privileges and direct access to the physical network segment connected to the affected hardware.
An attacker meeting those prerequisites can achieve full takeover of MySQL Cluster, resulting in loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The attack also requires human interaction from a user other than the attacker and is limited to the adjacent network.
Oracle’s January 2022 Critical Patch Update addresses the issue for supported releases, and NetApp has published a corresponding advisory confirming the affected products and available fixes. The EPSS score has remained flat at 0.1143 with no material increase after disclosure.
