Summary

CVE-2022-26965 is a high-severity Unrestricted Upload of File with Dangerous Type (CWE-434) vulnerability in Pluck-Cms Pluck. Its CVSS base score is 7.2 (High).

Operationally, ranked in the top 4.3% of CVEs by exploit likelihood; it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog; a public proof-of-concept is referenced.

Deeper analysis

CVE-2022-26965 affects Pluck version 4.7.16 and stems from unrestricted file upload handling in the theme installation feature. An authenticated administrator can reach the endpoint at /admin.php?action=themeinstall and supply a crafted archive that the application stores and processes without sufficient type or content validation, corresponding to CWE-434. The resulting CVSS 7.2 score reflects the need for high privileges while still allowing full compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

An attacker who already possesses administrative credentials can upload a malicious theme package containing executable code. Once the package is installed, the attacker can invoke the planted payload to execute arbitrary commands on the underlying server, achieving remote code execution.

Public proof-of-concept material, including a detailed shell-upload walkthrough and accompanying video, has been posted to PacketStorm. The associated EPSS score has remained flat at its peak value of 0.2045 with no material upward trajectory after disclosure.
