Deeper analysis
CVE-2022-46597 is a command injection vulnerability (CWE-78) affecting the TRENDnet TEW755AP wireless access point running firmware version 1.13B01. The flaw resides in the setup_wizard_mydlink function (sub_4104B8), where the sys_service parameter is processed without adequate sanitization, allowing arbitrary command execution.
An unauthenticated attacker with network access can supply a malicious sys_service value to the affected endpoint. Because the vulnerability requires no privileges or user interaction and carries a CVSS score of 9.8, successful exploitation grants the attacker full control over the device, including the ability to read, modify, or delete data and disrupt service.
The two provided references consist of the same researcher disclosure page and contain no information on vendor patches, firmware updates, or recommended mitigations. The associated EPSS score has remained flat at 0.1215 with no material increase since publication.
