Vulnerability Data

XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Starting in version 3.5-milestone-1 and prior to versions 14.4.8, 14.10.4, and 15.0-rc-1, the mail obfuscation configuration was not fully taken into account. While the mail displayed to the end user was obfuscated, the…

rest response was also containing the mail unobfuscated and users were able to filter and sort on the unobfuscated, allowing them to infer the mail content. The consequence was the possibility to retrieve the email addresses of all users even when obfuscated. This has been patched in XWiki 14.4.8, 14.10.4, and 15.0-rc-1.

Likely Mitigating Controls AI

Per-CVE control mapping for this CVE has not run yet; the list below is derived from the weakness types (CWEs) cited in the NVD entry.

addresses: CWE-668

Controls whether organization resources are exposed to external system spheres by permitting or prohibiting their use.

addresses: CWE-668

The control ensures information is not released into a security sphere where the recipient lacks matching access authorizations.

addresses: CWE-668

The control ensures information resources are not exposed to the incorrect (public) sphere through review and authorization.

addresses: CWE-668

Protects against data mining that would expose resources to unauthorized spheres by enforcing detection and controls.

addresses: CWE-668

Restricts information flows to ensure resources are not exposed to incorrect or unauthorized spheres.

addresses: CWE-668

Controlling internal connections prevents exposure of resources to unintended internal spheres.

addresses: CWE-668

Knowing exact processing and storage locations helps avoid exposure of resources to incorrect spheres.

addresses: CWE-668

The control prevents exposure of the media resource to the wrong security sphere.

PR.AA-05 mostly match
prevents

Enforcing least-privilege access permissions directly prevents private resources from being exposed outside their intended sphere.

PR.IR-01 mostly match
prevents

Logical segmentation and unauthorized-access protections stop resources from leaking into untrusted domains.

PR.DS-01 partial match
prevents

Encryption of data-at-rest reduces the value of any leaked resource but does not address the transmission flaw itself.

PR.DS-02 partial match
prevents

Protecting data-in-transit mitigates exposure during movement yet does not prevent the underlying boundary violation.

Mitigating Controls (ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Annex A) AI

Derived directly from the weakness types (CWEs) cited in the NVD entry via our AI-authored CWE→ISO cross-walk (authority under review) — links open the control.

prevents

Information-access-restriction directly prevents private resources from being exposed beyond intended boundaries.

prevents

Access-control mechanisms limit who can receive resources that should remain internal.

prevents

Managing access rights helps ensure resources are not granted to untrusted parties.

finds

Data-leakage-prevention technologies specifically block unintended transmission of sensitive resources.

mitigates

Information-transfer rules can prevent unintended disclosure of private resources outside the product.

mitigates

Network-security controls can limit exposure paths but do not address the root resource-leak logic.
