Deeper analysis
LibreNMS, an open-source PHP/MySQL/SNMP-based network monitoring system, is affected by a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability (CVE-2024-50352, CWE-79) in the Services section of the Device Overview page. The flaw allows arbitrary JavaScript injection through the name parameter when an authenticated user adds a service to a device and carries a CVSS 3.1 score of 4.8.
An attacker with a high-privileged authenticated account can store malicious script that executes in the browser context of other users who subsequently view the Device Overview page, enabling session compromise and unauthorized actions within those accounts.
The issue is fixed in LibreNMS version 24.10.0, as described in the project's GitHub security advisory and the associated commit that resolves the input handling weakness.
The EPSS score has remained flat at its peak value of 0.1179 with no material increase observed after disclosure.
