Deeper analysis
The Novel Design Store Directory WordPress plugin, developed by Joshua Wolfe and versions through 4.3.0, contains an unrestricted file upload vulnerability of dangerous type (CWE-434). The flaw permits remote attackers to upload arbitrary files, including web shells, directly to the web server without authentication or other restrictions.
Unauthenticated attackers can exploit the issue over the network by submitting a malicious file upload request. Successful exploitation grants full control over the affected server, enabling arbitrary code execution, data theft, and persistence through planted shells, as reflected in the CVSS 10.0 score with network attack vector, no privileges required, and complete impact across confidentiality, integrity, and availability with changed scope.
The Patchstack advisory for this CVE identifies the affected plugin versions and links to the corresponding vulnerability record, indicating that site operators should apply any available updates or remove the plugin to eliminate the upload vector.
The associated EPSS score stands at 0.6213 with no subsequent rise from a lower baseline.
