Published: 09 May 2025
Summary
CVE-2025-4403 is a critical-severity Unrestricted Upload of File with Dangerous Type (CWE-434) vulnerability in Wordpress (inferred from references). Its CVSS base score is 9.8 (Critical).
Operationally, ranked in the top 13.5% of CVEs by exploit likelihood; it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog.
Deeper analysis
The Drag and Drop Multiple File Upload for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is affected by an arbitrary file upload vulnerability in all versions through 1.1.6. The flaw resides in the upload() function, which accepts a user-supplied supported_type string along with the uploaded filename without performing substantive extension or MIME-type validation, as shown in the plugin source at class-dnd-upload-wc.php lines 158 and 360.
Unauthenticated attackers can therefore send crafted upload requests that place arbitrary files, including executable code, on the target server, resulting in remote code execution with full confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact as reflected in the CVSS 9.8 score and CWE-434 classification.
Public references include a WordPress plugin changeset (3289478) that addresses the issue, the plugin’s developer page, and a detailed Wordfence advisory that recommends immediate upgrade to a corrected release once available.
EPSS remains flat at 0.0284 with no observed rise after disclosure.

Per-CVE control mapping for this CVE has not run yet; the list below is derived from the weakness types (CWEs) cited in the NVD entry.
Requiring identifiable owners for portable devices reduces the attack surface for unrestricted uploads of dangerous file types via anonymous media.
Dangerous file uploads can be detonated in the chamber to determine malice before any production write or execution occurs.
Prevents unrestricted writing of arbitrary or malicious firmware by keeping hardware write-protect enabled except under tightly controlled manual procedures.
Scans files from external sources on download/open/execute, blocking unrestricted uploads of dangerous file types.
