Deeper analysis
The Workreap plugin for WordPress, used by the Workreap - Freelance Marketplace WordPress Theme, contains an authentication bypass vulnerability in all versions through 3.3.1. The flaw stems from insufficient identity verification during email-based account confirmation, allowing login without proper checks on the confirmation_key value.
Unauthenticated attackers can exploit the issue over the network by supplying a known user email address to assume the identity of any registered account, including administrators, provided the confirmation_key has not already been populated by the plugin. The vulnerability carries a CVSS 3.1 score of 9.8 and is tracked under CWE-288.
The referenced advisories indicate that version 3.3.2, released on 23 May 2025, addresses the issue; site operators should apply the update promptly. The associated EPSS score remains flat at 0.0105 with no material increase observed after disclosure.

to logging them in when verifying an account with an email address. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to log in as registered users, including administrators, if they know user's email address. This is only exploitable fi the user's confirmation_key has not already been set by the plugin.

Per-CVE control mapping for this CVE has not run yet; the list below is derived from the weakness types (CWEs) cited in the NVD entry.
Authorizing remote access reduces the ability to bypass authentication via unauthorized alternate remote channels.
Users can identify logons via alternate paths or channels by reviewing the previous logon time.
Adaptive requirements can apply across access paths, reducing the ability to bypass authentication via alternate channels or paths.
Centralized IdPs close alternate authentication paths that enable bypass.
Enforces authentication for non-organizational users, making it harder to bypass via alternate paths or channels.
Requires authentication to occur exclusively over the isolated trusted path, directly preventing bypass via alternate or untrusted channels.
