Acrobat Reader DC versions 20.001.20085 and earlier, 20.005.3031x and earlier, and 17.012.30205 and earlier contain a use-after-free vulnerability tracked as CVE-2022-24102 and CWE-416. The flaw can lead to arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user when a specially crafted PDF is processed.
An attacker can exploit the issue by supplying a malicious file that the victim must open, after which code runs locally with the privileges of the logged-in user. No additional authentication or remote vector is required, though user interaction is mandatory.
