Deeper analysis

CVE-2022-30489 is a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability (CWE-79) present in the WAVLINK WN535 G3 router. The flaw occurs because the hostname parameter supplied to /cgi-bin/login.cgi is not sanitized before being included in the HTTP response, allowing arbitrary script to be injected.

An unauthenticated remote attacker can trigger the issue by crafting a URL containing a malicious hostname value and inducing a victim to visit it. Successful exploitation yields limited confidentiality and integrity impact within the victim's browser session, as reflected by the CVSS vector AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N.

Public references consist solely of GitHub repositories containing proof-of-concept code; no vendor advisories, patches, or mitigation guidance are provided. The associated EPSS score has remained stable near 0.29 with negligible movement between its recorded peak and current value.
