Adobe Illustrator versions 26.0.2 and earlier as well as 25.4.5 and earlier contain an out-of-bounds write vulnerability tracked as CVE-2022-30649 and CWE-787. The flaw can permit arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user when a specially crafted file is processed by the application.
An attacker can exploit the issue by supplying a malicious file that the victim must open, after which code runs locally with the privileges of the user who opened the file. No additional privileges or remote access are required beyond convincing the target to open the document.
