Deeper analysis

A cross-site scripting vulnerability exists in the footer alerts functionality of WWBN AVideo 11.6 and development master commit 3f7c0364. The flaw is triggered by the "success" parameter, which is inserted into the document without adequate sanitization, allowing a crafted value to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the browser of a user who views the resulting page.

An unauthenticated attacker can supply a malicious HTTP request containing the payload. If an authenticated user is induced to submit or follow that request, the attacker achieves JavaScript execution with limited confidentiality and integrity impact and changed scope, consistent with the reported CVSS 6.1 rating.

Public references point to Talos Intelligence advisory TALOS-2022-1538 for technical details and to an AVideo database migration script (updateDb.v12.0.sql) that addresses the issue in subsequent releases. The associated EPSS score has remained near 0.10 with only minor fluctuation between its current and peak values.
