Summary

CVE-2022-34183 is a medium-severity Cross-site Scripting (CWE-79) vulnerability in Jenkins Agent Server Parameter. Its CVSS base score is 5.4 (Medium).

Operationally, ranked in the top 5.5% of CVEs by exploit likelihood; it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog.

Deeper analysis

Jenkins Agent Server Parameter Plugin 1.1 and earlier contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability because it fails to escape the name and description fields of Agent Server parameters when rendering views that display those parameters. The affected component is the Jenkins plugin responsible for handling these parameter types within job configurations.

Attackers who possess Item/Configure permission can supply crafted values containing script payloads in the parameter name or description. When another user subsequently views the parameter list, the malicious script executes in that user's browser context, enabling actions such as session hijacking or unauthorized configuration changes within the Jenkins instance.

The referenced Jenkins security advisory for SECURITY-2784 details the issue and directs administrators to apply the corresponding plugin update that introduces proper escaping for the affected fields.

The EPSS score for this CVE rose materially from lower values after disclosure to a peak of 0.2585 on 2025-12-11 before receding to the current level of 0.1390, indicating a period of increased exploitation interest that warrants renewed attention.
