Deeper analysis

CVE-2023-36163 is a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability (CWE-79) in IP-DOT BuildaGate version BuildaGate5. The flaw resides in the mc URL parameter, which fails to sanitize input and permits injection of arbitrary script content that is later rendered in the browser of anyone who follows the link.

A remote attacker with no authentication can exploit the issue by crafting a malicious URL and delivering it to a target user. When the recipient interacts with the link, the injected script executes in the context of the vulnerable site, enabling limited impacts on confidentiality and integrity such as session token theft or unauthorized actions within the affected domain.

The provided references consist of a Packet Storm disclosure and example URLs from deployed instances but contain no vendor advisories, patch details, or mitigation guidance. The associated EPSS score has remained flat at 0.1674 with no material increase since publication.
