Deeper analysis
A cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in Mingsoft MCMS versions up to 5.3.1. The issue resides in the search.do file within the HTTP POST Request Handler component, where unsanitized input to the style argument permits script injection. The flaw is tracked as CWE-79 and carries a CVSS 3.1 score of 3.5.
An authenticated attacker with network access can supply a crafted POST request that executes arbitrary script in the context of a victim user who interacts with the resulting page. Successful exploitation yields limited integrity impact while leaving confidentiality and availability unaffected; the attack requires user interaction and cannot be performed anonymously.
Public references, including the vendor issue tracker at gitee.com, indicate that a patch is available and should be applied to resolve the flaw. The exploit code has already been disclosed, increasing the likelihood that unpatched instances will be targeted.
The associated EPSS score has remained steady at 0.1196 with no material increase observed after disclosure.
