Deeper analysis
The GamiPress WordPress plugin, used for gamification features such as points, achievements, badges, and ranks, is affected by CVE-2024-11036. The flaw exists in all versions through 7.1.5 and stems from insufficient validation of input to the gamipress_get_user_earnings AJAX action before invoking do_shortcode, enabling arbitrary shortcode execution. The issue is tracked under CWE-94 and carries a CVSS 3.1 base score of 7.3.
Unauthenticated remote attackers can invoke the affected AJAX endpoint to execute arbitrary shortcodes. Depending on the shortcodes registered by the site or other plugins, this can result in limited impacts to confidentiality, integrity, and availability without requiring user interaction or credentials.
The Wordfence advisory and plugin changelog indicate that the vulnerability is resolved in versions newer than 7.1.5; site administrators should update GamiPress promptly. The EPSS score rose from a low baseline to a peak of 0.0550 on 2025-12-11 before receding to the current value of 0.0248, indicating a temporary increase in observed exploitation interest after public disclosure.

Per-CVE control mapping for this CVE has not run yet; the list below is derived from the weakness types (CWEs) cited in the NVD entry.
Makes persistent code injection into loaded programs impossible when the executable image itself resides on hardware-protected read-only media.
Dynamically generated code can be produced and executed inside the isolated chamber, preventing host compromise from code-injection payloads.
Validates inputs used in dynamic code generation to block injected directives.
Directly prevents execution of attacker-supplied code written into data memory regions.
