Summary

CVE-2024-2793 is a high-severity Cross-site Scripting (CWE-79) vulnerability in Wordpress (inferred from references). Its CVSS base score is 7.2 (High).

Operationally, ranked in the top 11.4% of CVEs by exploit likelihood; it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog.

Deeper analysis

The Visual Website Collaboration, Feedback & Project Management – Atarim plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to stored cross-site scripting via comments in all versions up to and including 3.30. The flaw arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the plugin's AJAX handling routines, allowing malicious input to be persisted and later rendered without proper escaping.

Unauthenticated attackers can exploit the issue remotely with low complexity and no required user interaction. Successful injection permits arbitrary web scripts to execute in the browsers of users who later access the affected pages, resulting in limited confidentiality and integrity impacts under a changed scope.

Patches are provided in WordPress plugin repository changesets 3094260 and 3094999, which modify the vulnerable functions in wpf_ajax_functions.php to address the sanitization and escaping deficiencies.

The EPSS score rose from lower values after disclosure to a peak of 0.0678 on 2025-12-11 before receding to the current 0.0397, indicating measurable post-disclosure exploitation interest.
