Summary

CVE-2025-13712 is a high-severity Deserialization of Untrusted Data (CWE-502) vulnerability in Zerodayinitiative (inferred from references). Its CVSS base score is 7.8 (High).

Operationally, ranked in the top 18.2% of CVEs by exploit likelihood; it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog.

Deeper analysis

Tencent HunyuanDiT contains a deserialization of untrusted data vulnerability in its merge endpoint that permits remote code execution. The flaw stems from insufficient validation of user-supplied input during deserialization, allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary code with root privileges on affected installations. The issue is tracked as ZDI-CAN-27190 and carries a CVSS 3.0 score of 7.8.

Remote attackers can trigger the vulnerability when a user visits a malicious page or opens a malicious file, resulting in code execution in the root context without additional authentication. The attack vector requires user interaction but needs no privileges on the target system.

A patch addressing the issue is available in the HunyuanDiT repository, and further details are provided in the Zero Day Initiative advisory ZDI-25-1028. The associated EPSS score has remained flat at 0.0155 with no material increase observed after disclosure.

a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the merge endpoint. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in deserialization of untrusted data. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of root. Was ZDI-CAN-27190.

Per-CVE control mapping for this CVE has not run yet; the list below is derived from the weakness types (CWEs) cited in the NVD entry.

addresses: CWE-502

Penetration testing supplies malicious serialized objects, detecting unsafe deserialization and supporting corrective actions.

addresses: CWE-502

Evaluation of untrusted data handling (deserialization testing) reveals unsafe processing, which the required remediation process addresses.

addresses: CWE-502

Untrusted serialized data can be deserialized and observed inside the chamber, blocking gadget-chain exploitation outside the sandbox.

addresses: CWE-502

Validates or rejects untrusted serialized data before deserialization occurs.

addresses: CWE-502

Identifies and blocks malicious code introduced through deserialization of untrusted data at system boundaries.

addresses: CWE-502

Integrity verification of serialized information can detect tampering before deserialization occurs.

addresses: CWE-502

Provenance of associated data allows detection of untrusted sources before deserialization or processing occurs.
