The vulnerability is a reflected cross-site scripting flaw (CWE-79) caused by improper neutralization of input during web page generation. It affects the uxgallery WordPress Photo Gallery – Image Gallery plugin (also referenced as photo-image-gallery) on versions up to and including 2.0.4.
An unauthenticated remote attacker can supply a crafted URL that is reflected back to a victim user who follows the link. Successful exploitation executes arbitrary script in the victim's browser under the site's origin, enabling theft of session tokens or other data, UI manipulation, or limited actions within the affected WordPress site.
The Patchstack advisory for this issue identifies the reflected XSS vector in the named plugin versions and implies that remediation is achieved by updating to a corrected release beyond 2.0.4. The associated EPSS scores remain low, with only a modest increase from a baseline of 0.0067 to a peak of 0.0111.
