CVE-2026-5797 is a medium-severity Injection (CWE-74) vulnerability in Wordpress (inferred from references). Its CVSS base score is 5.3 (Medium).
Operationally, exploitation aligns with the MITRE ATT&CK technique Exploit Public-Facing Application (T1190); ranked at the 41th percentile by exploit likelihood (below the median); it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog.
The strongest mitigations our analysis identified map to AC-3 (Access Enforcement) and SI-10 (Information Input Validation) — see the control section below for these in your framework.

Vulnerability Data
The Quiz And Survey Master plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Arbitrary Shortcode Execution in versions up to and including 11.1.0. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and the execution of do_shortcode() on user-submitted quiz answer text. User-submitted answers…

pass through sanitize_text_field() and htmlspecialchars(), which only strip HTML tags but do not encode or remove shortcode brackets [ and ]. When quiz results are displayed, the plugin calls do_shortcode() on the entire results page output (including user answers), causing any injected shortcodes to be executed. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary WordPress shortcodes such as [qsm_result id=X] to access other users' quiz submissions without authorization, as the qsm_result shortcode lacks any authorization checks.

Why these techniques?
Vulnerability in public-facing WordPress plugin directly enables unauthenticated exploitation to execute arbitrary shortcodes and access unauthorized data.

Mitigating Controls (NIST 800-53 r5) AI
Directly requires validation and sanitization of untrusted user input (quiz answers) to reject or neutralize dangerous content such as shortcode brackets before storage or processing.
Enforces that every mediated access (including via the qsm_result shortcode) must perform an authorization decision, preventing the shortcode from returning other users' submissions without checks.
Limits the privileges granted to unauthenticated or low-privilege users so that even a successfully injected shortcode cannot expose data outside the caller's authorized scope.
