Vulnerability Data

Svelte devalue is a JavaScript library that serializes values into strings when JSON.stringify isn't sufficient for the job. In versions 5.1.0 through 5.9.2, stringify and uneval functions serialize a typed array by emitting its entire backing ArrayBuffer rather than only…

more

the view, so serializing a Node Buffer, whose backing store is a process-wide shared pool, discloses up to 64 KB of unrelated process memory, including bytes from other in-flight requests. In a server-side-rendered framework such as SvelteKit or Nuxt, a public page whose load() returns a small Buffer, or that reads a small file, can therefore ship another user's request body or Authorization header in its HTML without authentication. Because this occurs during serialization, it fires on every such render and is not mitigated by the parse/unflatten prototype-pollution and denial-of-service guards, which only apply when parsing untrusted input. As a workaround, convert Node Buffer objects to Uint8Array before serialization. This issue has been fixed in version 5.9.3.

Likely Mitigating Controls AI

Per-CVE control mapping for this CVE has not run yet; the list below is derived from the weakness types (CWEs) cited in the NVD entry.

addresses: CWE-200 CWE-226

The control's identification, isolation, alerting, and eradication steps directly limit the impact and exploitation window of unauthorized sensitive information exposure.

addresses: CWE-200 CWE-226

Sanitizing equipment to remove specified information before off-site maintenance prevents exposure of sensitive information to unauthorized actors such as external maintenance personnel.

addresses: CWE-200 CWE-226

The media protection policy defines requirements and procedures to prevent unauthorized disclosure or access to sensitive information on media.

addresses: CWE-200 CWE-226

Sanitizing media before disposal or release out of control prevents sensitive information from remaining accessible to unauthorized actors who obtain the media.

addresses: CWE-200 CWE-226

Proper media downgrading process prevents sensitive information from remaining on media that is then accessible to lower-classification recipients.

addresses: CWE-200 CWE-226

Regular deletion of inaccurate or outdated PII directly reduces the volume of sensitive information retained that could be exposed.

addresses: CWE-200 CWE-226

Deleting information when no longer needed directly reduces the window during which sensitive data can be exposed to unauthorized actors.

addresses: CWE-200 CWE-226

Secure disposal techniques directly prevent sensitive data from becoming accessible to unauthorized actors after components leave organizational control.

PR.AA-05 mostly match
prevents

PR.AA-05 directly enforces least-privilege authorization that blocks most unauthorized disclosures, yet CWE-200 also arises from logging, error messages, and side-channel paths that access controls alone do not address.

PR.DS-10 mostly match
prevents

PR.DS-10 mostly prevents CWE-200 by directly eliminating unauthorized access to sensitive data-in-use, yet only partially addresses the weakness because CWE-200 spans many other exposure vectors outside runtime protection.

PR.IR-01 mostly match
prevents

PR.IR-01's segmentation/zero-trust controls largely eliminate network-level unauthorized access paths that enable exposure, yet CWE-200 spans many additional vectors (API responses, logs, app logic) that network controls alone cannot close.

PR.PS-06 mostly match
prevents

Secure SDLC practices catch most exposure flaws via design, testing and release controls, yet CWE-200 spans runtime/config issues a single development outcome cannot fully close.

PR.AA-01 partial match
prevents

PR.AA-01 supplies proper credential lifecycle controls that reduce unauthorized access paths, yet leaves many other exposure vectors (error messages, logging, side channels, etc.) unaddressed.

PR.AA-03 partial match
prevents

Authentication verifies actor identity and is a prerequisite for access decisions, yet addresses only one facet of the broad set of exposure vectors in CWE-200.

prevents

Clear rules on handling copies, storage, and disposal of classified information lower the likelihood that sensitive data will be left accessible to unauthorized actors.

prevents

Requiring the return of all physical and electronic assets plus secure deletion of organizational data from personal devices reduces the chance that sensitive information remains accessible to departing personnel.

prevents

By requiring owners to assign sensitivity labels and corresponding handling rules, the control ensures that information is not left unmarked and therefore reduces the chance that sensitive data will be exposed to unauthorized actors.

prevents

By requiring classification labels and metadata on all information assets, the control makes it harder for sensitive data to be inadvertently exposed because downstream systems and users can recognize and enforce handling rules based on those labels.

prevents

Requiring encryption, access controls, and recipient authentication for transfers directly reduces the chance that sensitive data reaches an unauthorized observer.

prevents

Secure delivery, protected storage, and confidentiality of allocation records limit exposure of authentication material to unauthorized observers.
