Deeper analysis

The KiviCare – Clinic & Patient Management System (EHR) plugin for WordPress contains a SQL injection vulnerability in all versions through 3.6.4. The flaw exists in the tax_calculated_data AJAX action, where the visit_type[service_id] parameter is insufficiently escaped and the corresponding SQL query lacks prepared-statement handling, allowing an attacker to alter query logic.

Unauthenticated remote attackers can supply crafted input to this endpoint and append arbitrary SQL clauses to existing queries, enabling extraction of sensitive data from the WordPress database. The issue carries a CVSS 3.1 score of 7.5 with network attack vector, low complexity, and no required authentication or user interaction.

The referenced Wordfence advisory and WordPress plugin changeset indicate that the vendor addressed the problem by updating KCTaxController.php; site administrators should apply the available patch or upgrade to a fixed release. The associated EPSS score stands at 0.7222 with an identical recorded peak, providing no indication of a post-disclosure rise in exploitation interest.
