CVE-2025-32856
Published: 16 April 2025
Summary
CVE-2025-32856 is a high-severity SQL Injection (CWE-89) vulnerability in Siemens Telecontrol Server Basic. Its CVSS base score is 8.7 (High).
Operationally, ranked at the 17.4th percentile by exploit likelihood (below the median); it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog.
Deeper analysis
A vulnerability has been identified in TeleControl Server Basic versions prior to V3.1.2.2 consisting of an SQL injection flaw in the internally used LockBufferingSettings method. The affected component allows an authenticated remote attacker who can reach TCP port 8000 to bypass authorization controls, read from and write to the application's database, and execute code under the NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService account. The issue is tracked as CWE-89 and carries a CVSS 4.0 score of 8.7 reflecting network attack vector, low complexity, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
An attacker with valid credentials on a reachable system can supply crafted input to the LockBufferingSettings method, resulting in arbitrary database operations and operating-system command execution without further user interaction. Successful exploitation therefore grants the attacker the ability to manipulate configuration data and run code with service-level privileges on the host.
The Siemens advisory SSA-443402 recommends upgrading to version V3.1.2.2 or later to remediate the flaw and notes that no workarounds are provided.
EPSS for the CVE rose from a starting value of 0.0005 to a peak of 0.0100, indicating that exploitation interest increased after disclosure.
