Published: 07 July 2025
Summary
CVE-2025-6796 is a high-severity Path Traversal (CWE-22) vulnerability in Marvell Qconvergeconsole. Its CVSS base score is 7.5 (High).
Operationally, ranked in the top 4.3% of CVEs by exploit likelihood; it is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog.
Deeper analysis
Marvell QConvergeConsole contains a directory traversal vulnerability in the getAppFileBytes method that permits remote information disclosure. The flaw stems from insufficient validation of user-supplied paths before they are used in file operations, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to read arbitrary files on affected installations. The issue was assigned ZDI-CAN-24916 and carries a CVSS 3.0 score of 7.5 with a network attack vector and no required privileges or user interaction.
An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit the path traversal to retrieve sensitive files from the target system, with access occurring in the context of the SYSTEM account. Because the vulnerability requires no authentication, it can be triggered directly over the network against exposed QConvergeConsole instances.
The Zero Day Initiative advisory ZDI-25-451 provides the primary public reference for the issue. The associated EPSS score rose from lower values after the July 2025 disclosure to a peak of 0.2557 in December 2025 before receding to the current 0.2023, indicating measurable post-disclosure exploitation interest.
